People are not Always What we Think

The landlady by Roald Dahl is one of his best short stories. This story is about a seventeen man that go in a work trip, when he get there he need somewhere to stay and a man tell him to go to the bell and dragon. In his way he find a bed and breakfast, after thinking for a time he decide to stay there. The landlady seams really good and the place really cozy, but with the time he realize that nothing is what he thought and the woman is crazy. 

Something i love about Roald Dahl is the way he brings to life his characters with characterization. For example the landlady

 “Left?” she said, arching her brows. “But my dear boy, he never left. He’s still here. Mr. Temple is also here. They’re on the fourth floor, both of them together.”   

This can show us, that the landlady is kind of crazy. Also we can assume that the tow mans are dead or also if the reader want to see the positive side he can think that they are really happy there and decide to stay forever. But in my opinion and the first thing that came to my mind is that the woman is crazy and kill the two man.  

In this short story there is not only a pretty good use of characterization but also of imagery.  For example

He stopped walking. He moved a bit closer. Green curtains (some sort of velvety material) were hanging down on either side of the window. The chrysanthemums looked wonderful beside them. He went right up and peered through the glass into the room, and the first thing he saw was a bright fire burning in the hearth. On the carpet in front of the fire, a pretty little dachshund was curled up asleep with its nose tucked into its belly. The room itself, so far as he could see in the half darkness, was filled with pleasant furniture. There was a baby grand piano and a big sofa and several plump armchairs, and in one corner he spotted a large parrot in a cage.

This can make us imagine a really cozy place where to can relax and probably nothing bad will happen. Also it makes me visualize a cozy living room with a hot fire, kind like a grandmother house.   

This was such a good story in all the ways possible, Roald Dahl use imagery and characterization is such a way that you can imagine everything like you are in the story and that is happening to you. Not only is a good story but the massage behind it is pretty good as well. We need to learn to be careful and also never trust first impressions. We need to be careful people can be bad and can make you a lot of damage. This short story is one of the best of all the ones we read.

War Can Kill Love, Love Can Kill War -Helene Lagerberg

war is a game Jonas use to play with his friends but now that he now that someday long time ago it exist his way of thinking change. Asher don’t understand him now one really do. He is frustrated how will not be in his position. Jonas from the day all had stared he had the curiosity  of how was last receiver and what did the giver do to failed. The giver explain him that her name was Rosemary and he love her but when it comes the time to give her a painful memory she didn’t support and ask for be release. That day was also time of the twins to borne but one need to be release and Jonas decide that he should know what release is and ask the giver, the giver know that it would be good to show him but he do it anyway  showing the video of the release  the twins Jonas discover that his father murder the kids that were release. He freak-out and didn’t went home. Jonas know that  was wrong and that they should change it was now or never they needed to make a plan for the memories go back to the community.

At the end of the chapter 20 there is a quote that really grabbed my attention , it make me what to read more and know all            

How I imagine Rosemary 

                                                                                                                                                     

   “her name was Rosemary, the giver said.” (162)  

                   

When the giver said that hers name was rosemary he was talking about her daughter. This bring so much things to my mind I cannot stop thinking about this. So many questions came to my mind, like how do it fells to need to transmit the memories of pain to her daughter? It was difficult? Do the giver saw the release of Rosemary? I think it was really difficult I feel bad because I will not be in that position. The biggest question is what did the giver min when he say that he need to stab because he wanted to be with his daughter?

IN these few chapters a lot of things had happened. Not only we answer a lot of the questions I had at the beginning of the book also every word I read is more important and make me love more the book and anxious for keep reading. It has pas a lot of time since I really like a book that I need to read for school so I’m really excited  for finish the book. Usually I don’t read a lot and in this book I can stop reading the only think that I think of is finishing the book. 

Pain

Jonas is still angry because he cannot see colors out of his memories. Also he want to share  all the good memories with friends and family but he can but something  strange  happen when Jonas accidently give Gabe a memory when he was taking care of him. He decide to not tell anyone about this. Jonas receive a lot a good memories but know is time to receive painful too.  All this pain will give him wisdom. One day the giver was in a lot of pain and Jonas decided to  take away after that he didn’t want to be the receiver any more. The giver decide to give him happy memories like the memory of charismas (the givers favorite).

I had read a lot about this pain that Jonas is getting. A quote that excelled was   “why do you and I have to hold these memories”.  These make me think about  why the giver and Jonas need to hold all the memories by their own.  Why the rest of the people live thinking that everything is okay and fell pleasure. The big question is why they don’t share the memories. They don’t need to live like that anymore but they should know like that they will know  they don’t want that again.

 all these we had read make me think that our community is not so bad. know i think that our community is good. I know all the bad things that happen but I can still be happy and nothing change. they are painful things that all the days happen but also they are beautiful things. 

First Day As a Reciver

once Jonas our knew receiver got out of the ceremony of twelve  he fell different strange, everything has change.  Jonas at home cannot wait and open his folder, as a difference of everyone he had only has one shit of paper. This paper contained different rules he most follow, like the startlingly rule that allows him to lie.  At the next day our reviser went to his first day of trading, of course he talked with his secret love Fiona at the entrance of the house of the old. This mysterious character The giver explained to Jonas that he will give him all kind of memories of the pas and Jonas most write it. The first memory of Jonas was about snow and sunshine something that in this wired community they don’t have it.  The day after he lie for the first time about snow. After school Jonas get late to his training and explain that was because he see the same thing that in the apple in Fiona hair and change to red.

While I was reading The Giver I really had think about how the “government “ full the rest of the community. For example they are a lot of times when the government control the things an people do not know about a lot of things like when the giver tell Jonas about snow….

“what are you going to do sir? He asked, hoping that his voice didn’t betray his nervousness. I am going to transmit the memory of snow, the old man said, and placed his hands on Jonas bare back.

This quote make me think that this community don’t know snow. I think that the government of the community control the clime like in the true man show. In the true man show the predictors control the clime and make a storm when Truman tray to run away.  Also make me think that they don’t make snow or sunshine because like that some people can be more cold and dress up different and chance all their order. So I ask you way do you thing the government don’t let snow or sunshine?

This amazing video make me remember snow. when they talk about snow I remember about this movie, this awesome character is always making fun. and I think is kind of sad that this community don’t have the opportunity of play in snow and make snowman’s

TheGiver Diary (The Ceremony of Twelve)

This week i had read the giver chapter 5-8. Like i had al ready tell this book is realy intesting. in chapter 5 jonas tell his drem to their family. His dream was about fiona. wen lily live the hause his mom tell him that that was strugles. Ther was a cure for thet and it was to take a pil every day. In the chater 6,7,8 they talk about the ceremony. At first it was the ceremony wen they give the babis but gabe wasent ther. then they pas all the other ceremony. wen they get to the ceremony of twelve jonas was very nervous, and he finally thougt that was hes turn but he skeped. jonas jell really bad. at the end of the ceremony they say it was a erer and thet jonas was not assignet was chosen. he was cousen to be the next reciver.

A quote that stood out was "Jonas has not been assigned," she informed the crowd, and [Jonas's] heart sank. Then she went on. "Jonas has been selected.". This quote make me think about what is the diference between this two. Also I think about how most Jonas had fell and also i thik about how i fell wen i revive my grades. I really fell bad about Jonas a all thats hapening in that moment with hime. But every thing is good when they anaunsed that he was selected. 

I am really emosinated for keep reading this book. Each time a read they are new sorprises. I rally like how jonas think about his society. I think more people should read this book and I believe that by makin this blog more peope will readed. 

The Giver Diary (1-4)

 The book "The Giver" by Lois Lowry is a really interesting book. In the past few weeks I had read the first 4 chapters. In this chapters the narrator  talk about the life of Jonas and his society. Jonas is a kid how have 11 years and is really nervous for the important last ceremony of twelve. At this ceremony he will be tell his assignment for the rest of his life. His society is a really strange one and have a lot of strange rules. One of this rules is that pilots can not flay over the community. In page 1 and 2 they talk about a plane that enter to the community the government ask everyone to get inside but a few minutes later they tell everyone that it was an accident . Jonas was really nervous about the ceremony and he tell his parents in the talk of the night (that was another rule were you need to share your fillings) . His parents want to calm him so they told him about the ceremony and his assignment. They told him that it was chosen by what they do in their Volunteering hours but there was a problem Jonas has spent his Volunteering hours in every place of community. Jonas also always was wearied in the rules of his community but he relax when he now that his father broke one. His father work with the new babis. There was a baby that wasn’t good so he brought it home and broke a law  by watching his name. The  last chapter I had read was number 4 in this chapter Jonas is competing his volunteering hours. He always make them with his friend Asher but this time he didn’t find him. When he finally find him he was at the old hours with Fiona. Fiona is a girl that Jonas kind of like her. In there he talked with a woman about the relist of a man.

There is a quote in particular that I think that stands out. In page 28 they say  “but he finally found Asher’s bicycle leaning, as usual, instead of upright in its port, as it should have been at the house of old. There was only one other child bicycle there, that of a female Eleven named Fiona.”  This quote make me think that Asher’s may like Fiona. This could be very controversial because at a part of the book when they present Fiona the narrator say that Jonas kind of like Fiona. I predict that Jonas and Ashur are going to fight because of Fiona.  

Dear readers this couple of weeks had bring me a lot of emotion and I think that this will continue like this.  Each week or couple of weeks I will be posting new writings for you to read. In this I will be talking of what happen in what I read and readers like you can comment of what is happening know . This is a really good book and I believe that can be a really good theme to talked about. 

Interview of the book The Giver

The Giver by Lois Lowry by what I have read is a book  about a boy Jonas that live in a perfect world. But  know is time for the true, he need  to get special training by The Giver. He will tech him the memories about pain and pleasure of life.  On the dedication Lois Lowry says "for all the children to whom we entrust the future". With this quote he mean that in us the new generations are the future of the the world. If the world it will be bad it will be our fall and how we made it. I predict that this book will be really god and that this boy will tray to change the perfection of his world. People will start to realize that something is wrong with there wold.
